Who is Marty Schaap?

Marty is a true West Islander born and raised his whole life in a variety of locations all around our amazing section of the Island. Born in Roxboro, he made his first move shortly thereafter to the house he called home for many years in the heart of the Greendale neighborhood in Pierrefonds.

The elementary years were spent in Greendale School, where he continues to make history. The 70’s were an unstable era in Real Estate, but even then, Marty was laying down roots in the community and with neighbors that would grow into what is essential in the referral business of Real Estate. His many, many contacts and acquaintances allow him to assist any client whether buying, selling or renovating their home.

High school brought him to a private school in Dorval that allowed him to continue expanding his contact base. The school, Emmanuel, now operates out of their building in Dollard-des-Ormeaux.

Following his post-Secondary education, Marty became well established in the aerospace industry spending over 14 years in the field. During that time, Marty’s life-long sweetheart Alicia and he were married at a young age by today’s standards. As they were both from larger-than-average families, they followed suit and over the years had 4 wonderful children together. Skyler, Bradley, Anna and Tiffany have been and continue to be the center of pride for them. Raising the four have allowed them to be exposed to every aspect of raising kids and can truthfully understand all of the challenges that go along with that responsibility.

Before the birth of their final baby, Tiffany, Marty began his career in Real Estate. He wanted a profession that would allow the flexibility of owning his own business, along with the elevated responsibility and effort that are demanded. The ability to help people in a meaningful and real way was always at the core of who he is, and the field of Real Estate sales allowed him to do all of those things. The first few years was spent with two partners, both of whom were veterans and extremely experienced agents. In that setting he was exposed to many different styles and techniques and was able to modify, improve and adapt his sales knowledge and methods to suit his personality and thinking. After a period of time he reached a point where the need to grow and expand was necessary, and the next step to branch out on his own. Taking with him the knowledge and experience he had gained, he was able to begin his own Real Estate business with the focus 100% on his clients, and their needs. Using the fundamentals like sowing and reaping, he knew that if every client relationship was nurtured and tended to the best of his ability, it would come back multiplied in the form of referrals, great testimonials, and strong, lasting friendships.

Anyone who has been able to work with Marty to take care of their Real Estate needs knows how passionately he will dedicate every effort to achieving the goal. Marty continues to put his strengths in other aspects in his life whether it be helping his kids in hockey, ringuette, soccer or lacrosse, or serving as chairman of the governing board at Greendale school, or other community involvements. The attitude of serving has always helped him help others.
